jerry’s steps

another truly one-and-only

a college classmate approached me with a request for custom made furniture. in his case, he had just created a library and needed portable steps to reach books on the upper shelves. He didn’t think he needed anything as elaborate as a ladder; just a couple of steps to get up to 8′ or so. The main criteria: it had to be mobile, sturdy and fit in with the adirondack style of the house and library. and, by the way, it needed to be safe. so, with a little research, off we went. as is usually the case in these projects, the design development is what takes most of the time and effort; the building is almost incidental.
