a client asked me to develop a console table, suitable in size for a hallway or foyer, that would be distinctively traditional in style. 'Traditional' covers a pretty broad spectrum - there are many styles, and periods, considered to be traditional. After a little research, I chose the period called Sheraton or Federalist - early 19th century American. I designed a piece that was sympathetic to that period without being an exact replica: the tapered legs, bead detail at the bottom of the apron, marquetry on the top, curved apron and classical details are all hallmarks of the 'Sheraton' style.
