a dining table that does double duty
this is perhaps my favorite table design. in this case, I made the top out of solid ribbon or sapele mahogany – I probably cannot get these widths again. accents are ebony. the mechanism that doubles the size of the top is as ingenious as it is simple (I wish I could claim it but it’s danish in origin). the top first is rotated 90 degrees and then flipped open. unfortunately, I sold this at the end of a show to cover the entrance fee. this was 23 years ago and I still regret it!
