hamm door

I made this door 20 years ago while working for a contractor in southeastern rhode island, tom buxton. the house was new and fabulous; the door was a microcosm but there was nothing small-scale about it. a stylized ‘h’ was the prominent feature; mahogany, maple and glass were the materials. I’ll never forget breaking a head on the shaper as I shaped the halves of the ‘h’ – a potentially life ‘changing’ experience.

solid mahogany, maple, insulating glass; 1 3/4″ x 48″ x 84″
