designed around a plank
I bought a 2″ plank of white oak in grad school from another student who was graduating and couldn’t use it. even in the rough, I could see its very special figure – I knew I’d have to wait for the right application for this beauty. I lugged this plank around for 30+ years before the concept finally gelled. first called the ‘fish table’ for its obvious reference; it evolved to pier as that’s what the base reminds me of.
this is yet another one-off that can’t be duplicated.
