when I was in graduate school, my teacher, Tage Frid, showed us how to make this expanding table using a simple rotating mechanism. It all seemed like magic at first; in fact, it looked so simple, I wondered what was the big deal. Like so many things, though, what's simple is not necessarily easy which I found out when I went to make this table. It's a great space saver and transformer - my kind of furniture - and in this case, built in sapele mahogany with ebony accents, it looks pretty outstanding, too.
